About Hi3D

Hi3D exists because turning a picture into a usable 3D model should not require a login, a credit balance, or three days of learning a modelling package.

What Hi3D Does

Hi3D is a single-purpose tool. You give it one photograph or piece of artwork; it returns a closed, textured 3D model you can download as GLB, OBJ or STL. Behind that one interaction sits a reconstruction pipeline that estimates depth from a single viewpoint, infers the volumes the camera never saw, closes the surface into a watertight body, unwraps the UVs and bakes a de-lit albedo onto the result. Most generations finish in 40 to 90 seconds.

We deliberately did not build a workspace, an asset library, a collaboration layer or a project manager. Those things are useful in other products and they would make this one worse. The whole value of Hi3D is that the distance between having an idea and holding a mesh is one upload, and every feature that adds a step erodes it.

Why It Is Free and Anonymous

There is no account because an account would not make the tool better for you — it would only make the metrics better for us. Nothing about reconstructing a photograph requires knowing who you are, so we do not ask. There is no credit balance to watch drain, no email verification standing between you and a first result, and no upsell modal at the moment the model finishes.

The one limit is a fair-use cap of three generations per hour. Reconstruction runs on GPUs that a small number of heavy users could saturate for everyone else, and the cap is the least intrusive way we found to keep the queue responsive. It resets on its own and applies to everyone equally.

What Hi3D Is Not

Honest limits are more useful than marketing claims, so here are ours. Hi3D outputs triangle meshes, not production quad cages, which means characters that need to deform at joints require retopology before rigging. It infers unseen geometry rather than measuring it, so it is not a substitute for photogrammetry or metrology where dimensional accuracy is the point. It bakes an albedo map but not roughness or normal maps. And a bad source photo produces a bad model — reconstruction cannot recover information the image never contained.

Within those limits it is genuinely fast and genuinely free, which is why people use it for prototypes, print projects, teaching, prop generation and blockout. If you need something outside them, the honest answer is that a different tool will serve you better, and we would rather say so than waste your afternoon.

Getting In Touch

Hi3D is run by a small team that reads its own inbox. Bug reports, bad generations, questions about commercial use and feature requests all reach us at the address on our contact page, and a message about a broken result is worth far more to us than a polite one. If a specific image fails to reconstruct, telling us what it was is the single most useful thing you can do.
